There are various options for riding in North County, along the coast, and inland.
The terrain in San Diego and environs is varied:
• Large, rolling hills
• Long steady climbs with elevation gains of 1000 - 4000 feet over short and long distances.
• Inland long-distance endurance riding
• Scenic rides along the coastline
• Flat plateau loops for recovery or sprint workouts
• By request, opportunities to visit and ride on the San Diego outdoor track velodrome.

The roadways are also varied. There are wide open major routes with bike lanes alongside auto traffic, as well as lovely winding backroads and quiet, scenic routes. The coastal route offers views of the Pacific ocean and rides through intermittent downtown shops. Your host can also direct you to mountain bike trails if you prefer to check out some of these options on your own.
Distances can be short or long, with ride times varying from one hour coastal recovery rides to 3, 4, and 5+ hour long rides with a few hundred to a few housand feet of climbing involved. Mix and match routes provided by your host and create a half-day or full day of riding.
Guests will have options to choose from every day during your week-long cycling retreat.
These options include:
• Rides led by your host
• Rides on your own using turn-by turn cue-sheets.
• Local group rides that you may wish to join
